Customer Reviews

Great value for good copper I used this stuff in my 2 channel setup. The sound system costs $4K, the speakers are NHT SuperOnes 2.1, the music source is CD quality Apple TV (Airplay from iTunes) over toslink. The systems sounds great. Very transparent. Good detail. I needed this cable for a 12-15 foot run and could not justify buying "high-end" cables that would cost more than $200 bucks just for wire. My existing cable is only 8ft because it costs too damn much.I can't compare the sound of this cable to my older high-dollar, name-brand cable as it is a new setup, new speakers, and new house for me. If I had to do it again, i would buy the 12 gauge. Thicker is better, IMO.Watch out for copper clad cheap wire. Copper is expensive and wire manufacturers are now selling copper clad aluminum speaker cables to keep prices down. I think this stuff is real copper. Just look at it when you cut it. Other reviewers seem to think so. 5Okay. A bit stiff, thicker than needed, but there are length markers :) Here's what I see in the C&E CNE62747 100ft 14 AWG cable I got, ordered late 2016.CONSOuter diameter:My product box says 6.6mm, the Amazon photo of the box shows "Outer Diameter: 7.0mm". Whichever it is, it's 1-2mm more than needed for the two #14 wires inside, so there's looseness (see photo). I'd rather it was tightly packed and thinner.Flexibility:The cable is rather stiff.PROSLength markers:The length is indicated every 2 feet. Another reviewer said there were no markers. Maybe it changed since his review 2 years ago.Resistance:I measured about 2.75 m /ft, which is close to expected for 14 AWG copper. It's +10% more, but my measurement accuracy could be to blame (using a voltage divider and calculating from millivolts, alligator clips...). Another reviewer said his 500ft spool measured 3.2 m /ft (expected from 15 AWG and not 14 AWG). But perhaps it was a measurement accuracy problem there.Strand count:41. It looked like less, so I counted :).Other specs from a table included with the cable:File no./type: E241235-F5/CNRated temperature: 60 CInsulation material: PVCInsulation thickness: 0.38mmJacket material: PVCJacker thickness: 0.35mmManufacture date: 2015/11/24 3Wired surround sound for new construction This was purchased to run wiring for surround sound in a new home. This 250' spool was much more than needed and perfect fit for the job. Banana plugs were used to attach to the 2 gang wall plate located from center and to the rear channels. The shielding is white and the gauge is clearly marked all down the shielding. Inside the outer shielding are shielded wire one black and the other red. Several cable matters products have been purchased and used. It is a reliable brand and one of the first considered when purchasing wires/cables. 5THIS is the wire you're looking for This is a heavy spool of well insulated quality copper wire. Of all the wire I've purchased this is the best. So much so that I'm completely re wiring all of the projects in my Wrangler with this. As far as I can tell this is a true 16awg and the wire strips and cuts evenly, not the thin flimsy cheap copper coated aluminum crap. Good for current, good for speakers, you name it.Yes, the jacket makes the wire run heavier and thicker and takes up more space in a run of loom, but I'd rather have the extra protection under the hood or beneath my vehicle or around my house.I bought qty 2 on sale and glad I did. 5This is made in China, synonymous with poor quality, communism human abuse. Don t buy it. Bought this cable for my bose sound system. Wires were encased in a paper like sheath obviously not heat shrunk. Inside the sheath Was a thin piece of thread? Insulation? After running150 feet of it through my walls and attic I became concerned at the flimsiness of the wire. The spool was labeled HIGH PERPORMANCE Made in China. I think Amazon should indicate which items are made in China in the description. Amazon should allow consumers to filter out Made in China products. I would have paid more for a quality product made here in US. 1Impressive speaker wire that's hard to beat! This speaker cable was exactly as advertised, all copper and well insulated. I used this cable to power three sets of older Radio Shack Minimus 7 speakers in our new shop/garage. After ordering this cable and installing it but before actually using it, I read online where it was recommended to use at least 14AGW speaker wire for runs over 80 feet. That made me nervous as this wire is only 16AWG (but what appears to be a true 16AWG and not smaller). Well, I connected my old Akai stereo receiver (which still works after 35+ years) to the longest run (at least 100 feet) and was pleasantly surprised! Not only did I have plenty of power, I have great sound at less than quarter volume and this was much louder than I would normally use. This quality of this cable is obvious. The two conductors are first insulated in heavy black and red vinyl and the two are insulated together in a heavy white vinyl outer covering. Having the conductors insulated in red and black makes it easy to make the proper connections to the stereo/speakers. Best of all, you can't beat the price for what you get. I liked it well enough to buy a second spool for more speaker connections.I highly recommend this product to anyone for making in-wall connections for speakers. I also expect it would be fine for out-of-wall connections as well as other uses. 5It works! All 100 feet of it!!! Service, shipping and all that were perfect. Product looks and works as expected.I choose CL2 over basic wire because, even though I'm not using them in wall, I have retain that option in the future (vs. having to buy more wire) PLUS the white jacket camouflages the wire nicely when run along my baseboards. This was the best bang for the buck that i could find. Since it's OFC I figure 16g is acceptable for my older 5.1 home theater system. I would have gone 14g if buying CCA (gets @the same result) but all copper is better to work with when it comes to soldering (if I ever need to) and I don't break off a bunch of little strands everytime I work with it.Of course I would love to get 12g or 14g OFC but it's crazy expensive these days. At least with this stuff I felt like I was getting a somewhat fair deal from C&E. If I discover I need more speaker wire to get all my speakers just where i need them to be I'll be back for more. I'm 100% satisfied with my 100 feet of speaker cable! 5Works great...but Replaced 14ga zip cord with this wire. Ran wire thru basement floor joists and thru the exterior floor sill to fairly large (8" 3-way) outside deck speakers. Ran two 50' lines from an Adcom preamp and amp set-up and works great. Only complaint is that the individual vinyl wire coating leaves lots of gummy residue when stripped and it takes a lot of cleaning to get to the bare wire. Because of this residue, this wire, without major cleaning, won't take solder very well. So you must clean the wire whether you are using it bare or making any type of clamped or soldered connections. 5Very happy - Actually 16 GA Was a little on the worried side after I ordered and then read some reviews. Other's had mentioned the product being undersized. For example, they ordered 14 GA but received what appeared to be 16 GA.Well, I'm happy to report that when I ordered the 16 GA version, that's exactly what I received. I posted a pic showing it side-by-side with some Amazon Basics oxygen-free non-in-wall wire and to my eyes it appears to be the same size. Whew. Not enough to knock a star off, but it would have been nice if they would have included a pull cord. Less risk of cutting through the conductor insulation that way.The outer jacket has a nice feel to it, flexible but seems tough. My copy does not have length markers printed on the outside, this appears to be a hit or miss feature. It doesn't bother me, but it might some.Overall, very happy and would purchase again.***My Rating Criteria***Build Quality(47.5%) - 5.0 StarsEfficacy(47.5%) - 4.0 StarsPost-Sale Support(0.0%) - n/aPackaging/Presentation(5.0%) - 5.0 StarsWEIGHTED AVERAGE(100.0%) - 4.5 STARS 5Not quite 14 AWG but not a bad product for the price. I bought the 500 foot 14 AWG CL3R roll. When it arrived there were a couple issues. We'd expected CL3R to be written on the sleeve but only CL3 was written. The bigger problem was the gauge, it seemed a little thin and the wire cutters I had seemed to agree with me. The AWG of a wire can more accurately be calculated by the resistance per 1,000 feet of wire ([...]) so I tied two ends together (forming a 1,000 feet of speaker wire) and took a multi-meter to the other end and got 3.2 Ohms of resistance which matches a 15 AWGN wire rather than the expected 2.5 Ohms of a 14 AWGN wire.Overall the product is great for the price but isn't really 14 AWG. 3
